Another Woman's Miracle
*******************************
She sits quietly rocking the infant that has just
come into her care. Looking at the boy, she
feels what his mother must be going through
right now - the pain and sorrow of not knowing
when or if she would ever see her precious
little baby ever again. She remembers vividly
the call from Mr. Hosteen. She knew as soon as
her husband had summoned her into the room
and put the phone on speaker that something
serious was happening.
"We need to ask for your help and cooperation
on a matter of utmost importance. We have a
friend who's infant son is in immediate danger.
For our friend to return home to his son's
mother, to once again journey together, to rid their
lives and the lives of many innocent people of this
danger, their son needs to be hidden and
protected until they are able to come for him."
"Your asking us to protect this child?" She had
asked, knowing the importance of this request.
"Yes, we believe that the two of you would be the
best caregivers for this child, given your remote
location and the fact that you have no children."
He went on to tell them about the faux
adoption plan that they would soon put into
motion. How the mother was to hear the code
phrase. Then how she would proceed to make
those around her believe that she was giving
away her son forever.
Now, nearly a month later, she sits holding
this other woman's miracle thinking of the
heartache and fear that she must be feeling.
As she gets up to put the sleeping baby in the
crib, she stops at the window to look up at the
stars. She looks up to the heavens and makes
a promise to the child's mother to keep her son
safe and well cared for until she is able to come
for him.
Far off in the distance a man stares down at the
farmhouse in which his son is now residing, and
makes...
"William, I promise that your mommy and I will
come for you soon."

Additional Notes: This was my more optimistic
take on the events in "William". I have a
pessimistic one too, but that kind of post
"William" fic is being done by everyone else
