She's Moved On
It's taken me a while to accept the fact that she's
moved on with her life, and that she no longer loves
me. I just don't know if I'll ever be able to do the
same.
The secrecy of our relationship was one of the things
she had a problem with. With him she can tell the
world she's in love and with whom. If only I would've
been able to let go of the things holding me back.
Maybe we could've made it.
Every time I see them together part of me is happy
she's found someone that puts that look of love on
her face that she never had when we were together.
The other part of me is so angry and jealous I can't
see straight. I know I torture myself by frequenting
the same places they frequent, but it's a morbid
curiosity I have, the same kind that have gotten me
into trouble in the past. Especially where
relationships are considered.
And for a moment, it appeared that fate would
perhaps bring us back together, perhaps for good.
I could feel it in the very core of my being as she
approached my hospital bed, her face shining with
tears I greedily assumed were for me. I could see
it in her eyes, that faint glimmer of a chance that we
could perhaps be together again. That she was at
a crossroads of some sort in her life, unsure of
whether or not to continue the path she was taking.
Just as I had for so many years.
But finally, when I saw her that one last time, shortly
after she had saved my life, I could see that she had
made up her mind, that she was ready to move on...
past me. As she confronted me with the cold, hard
truth, that I hadn't moved on as she had. She had
found that special someone, she knew who she
was...I didn't know.
And as Maggie, my daughter, stood there in the
doorway, I knew the truth once and for all. I,
Daniel Waterston, the former lover of Dana Scully,
had to move on with my family, and release Dana
into the arms of her true love once and for all.

You didn't really think that the D in this story was
Doggett did you? I mean I'm not stupid I know who
is meant for who in the X-Files universe.
To any Shippers who actually read this: You have
more of a stomach than I do, that's for sure. Sorry
for the whole DSR labeling, I just had to do it, I had
one too many fake outs from the other side of the coin.
Payback's a bitch ain't it?
I have to give credit where credit is do Bear thanks
for writing the last part. You rock!
Flames will be used to make laughter spread around
the world.
Don't let the romance go to the dogs!
