Season 8
Summary: The morning following the events in my story
Where I'm Supposed To Be. Second, in what I hope to be
a series in the Where I'm Supposed To Be universe. You
might want to read it first but, you should be able to
understand this without reading it too.
Disclaimer: Chris Carter and Co. own them. But, they don't
treat them right. So, I took them away to where the world's
nice and bright. Now, Carter will send out his goons to tell
me he'll sue but, all I'll say back is a great big screw you.
In closing Mr. Carter, I have nothing but, if you want that
you can have it.
Feedback: Please, send feedback and I don't even care if
it's negative. I just need feedback, Pleeeeaaaasssseeee!
I just switched ISP's folks so, here's my new e-mail addy

Archive: Anywhere but, please tell me first. And, please
leave all notes and personal ranting attached. Please
archive this corrected version instead of the first one.
Thank you.
Authors Notes: I decided to give the series thing a try. I
might skip around in the timeline some because, I personally
need to go with my ideas as they come to me. I plan on
following our favorite agents through the changes their baby
will bring to their lives and, maybe some other stuff too. And,
completely ignores season 8. I will use the title WISTB
to classify the series and each story will have it's own title
More Notes: I decided to repost this after I received a very
rude e-mail going into intricate detail of all the mistakes I made,
what was wrong with it and what stories were better. I fixed
some mistakes but, I kept in the cliches because, I wanted to
write a happy sappy story. So, to the person who sent the
email I apologize for not giving you the angst that you seem to
like so much but, it wasn't my intention to write an angsty piece.
I know that this story isn't my best but, I wrote it as a bridge of
sorts for the next installment (For which I couldn't wait to start)
and I hurried. I'm sorry if I disappointed anyone with this story
but, I think the next one should be a lot better.
Let the cliches begin

WISTB 2: Not Gonna Happen

Dana Scully awoke to the very distinct smells of a hospital.
She reached for Mulder who had been beside her to find that
he wasn't there. Maybe, she had dreamed that he had been
returned to her last night, she thought with growing anxiety.
She reached out her hand and felt that where he had been was
still warm so it couldn't have been a dream she concluded with
a smile on her face. Just then a grandmotherly looking nurse
came in to check on her.
"Hello, Miss Scully. How are you feeling this morning?"
"I'm feeling much better. Did you happen to see a tall handsome
dark-haired man coming from my room this morning?"
"Oh, yes. I came in a few moments ago and saw your young
man had sneaked in here last night and, I asked him if he
could step out while I took your vitals. But, don't worry
dear, he'll be right back; he just went to get some coffee."
"He looked all right? He didn't look sick or anything?"
"Actually, he looked quite chipper, never stopped smiling,
and as handsome as could be. He didn't even argue when
I asked him to leave."
"Thank god, I was worried about him. He's been through
quite an ordeal over the last couple of days and, I was afraid
that he was sick or injured. I was so happy to see him last
night I forgot to check for anything." She paused a moment in
her glee, when another thought occurred to her. "Wait,
something must be wrong with him if he didn't argue about
leaving me."
"Well, I saw no reason to worry, dear. Like I said he looked
quite healthy and happy to me. You know, he had the same
look on his face my husband had right after we learned we
were expecting for the first time."
"What kind of look was that?" Scully asked with genuine
curiosity.
"Oh, a look somewhere between extreme happiness and a
confused 'what happens now' look."
Scully laughed as the nurse finished taking her vitals and telling
her some other things Mulder had also done that her husband
had done.
When, Mulder re-entered the room he came back to the sound
of Scully's laughter. He loved her laugh and hoped that, now that
they were having a baby, he'd hear it more often since she has a
good reason to be happy now. He smiled at that thought.
"What's so funny? " Mulder, asked after giving Scully a quick
peck on the lips.
"You are." She said with laughter still in her voice.
"What did I do now?"
"Nothing bad it's just that you are so damn cute."
"Oh, so now I'm just cute, huh? That's not what you said
after that thing we did in the shower last week."
"Mulder." Scully chastised sending a glare his way and,
nodding in the nurse's direction.
"I'm sorry about that, Nurse. Sometimes, he just doesn't
know when to keep his mouth shut."
"That's quite all right dear. I'm used to it. I've been with my
husband for forty-seven years and he still says things like
that. Well, I must be going now; I have other patients to
check on. The doctor will come by and talk to you about
your release in a little while. Oh, and by the way
Congratulations to both of you."
"Thank you." Mulder and Scully said in unison.
When the nurse had left Mulder moved to sit down on the
chair beside her bed. Scully noticed that Mulder was holding
a bag in his hands.
"Mulder, what's in that bag?"
"Oh, it's just a little something for the...."
Before, Mulder could finish his sentence the door opened
to show a very shocked Walter Skinner.
"Mulder, how the hell did you get here? I mean how are
you even anywhere?"
"I can't explain how I got here, Sir. The last thing I really
remember before waking up in this very room is being in
Oregon with you and seeing a bright light."
"You don't remember anything else?"
"Well, I heard a voice saying I wasn't supposed to be
where I was - that I supposed to be somewhere else."
"At least your back now. The bureau had a manhunt
planned for you."
"Gee and, here I thought they always wanted me to
disappear. I'm flattered."
"Mulder, on a personal note," Skinner said, ignoring Mulder's
last statement. " I'm glad to have you back. I had my doubts
about finding you this time. What I saw that night was.... shit,
I don't know what the hell that was but it scared the hell out
of me."
"I understand, Sir. Scully explained everything to me, and I
appreciate your concern, but I want you to know that what
happened wasn't your fault. It would have happened
regardless of who was with me. Now, I'm back where I
belong, unhurt and happy, and now we can get on with our
lives." Mulder said smiling as he gazed to Scully and
grasped her hand.
"So, what brings you here this morning, Sir?" Scully asked.
"I wanted to see how you were feeling and if you would
need a ride home after you were released."
"Thank you, Sir. I'm sure we will need a ride home seeing
as it's doubtful Mulder has a vehicle here considering that
we don't even know how he got here. And, I'm feeling
much better this morning."
"I'm glad to hear that. Well, I can't stay I've got to get into
the office and, now I have to hurry and tell them that
Mulder's back before they actually start that manhunt if they
haven't already. Mulder, are you staying here or do you want
a ride somewhere? "
"I'll stay here. I'll come into work tomorrow, if someone
wants to talk to me tell them - that my answers will still be
the same tomorrow."
"Okay, then call me when you need that ride. I'll see you
later, Agents." Skinner nodded to them and left.
"Mulder, you could have went with him if you wanted. I'll be
fine here by myself for a while."
"I know you would be. Staying here with you is more for
me than for you. I just returned from who knows where,
I'm exhausted, I found out I'm going to be a father, and the
only person I want to be around right now is you."
Scully reached up and caressed Mulder's cheek, and he
leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
"I'm so glad you're back and that you're here with me.
I'm afraid that I'm going to wake up and you will still
be missing, or they will actually come and take you
again."
"Not gonna happen. I don't plan on being out of your sight
for any long amounts of time for awhile. I mean you let me
go to Oregon and look what happened. You now have my
permission to hand cuff me to any kind of heavy office
equipment if I suggest such a thing ever again."
"It would take more than handcuffs to hold you back if you
feel it's something you need to do. I'd just fight harder to go
with you. I wouldn't cuff you, and anyway, you'd get kinky
ideas."
"Spoilsport....Do you still want to know what's in the bag? " He
said waving the bag in front of her.
"Yes," she said, making a grab for the bag, but missed it as
Mulder quickly pulled the bag out of her reach.
"Unh, unh, no grabbing the merchandise," he said as he wiggled
eye brows suggestively.
"Mulder, if you don't show me what's in that bag, I'll make sure
your merchandise never gets used again."
"No need for threats. I just wanted to show you this myself."
He pulled out a teddy bear with a pink bib around it's neck
that said If You Think I'm Cute You Should See My
Mommy. " The bib can be used on the baby too."
"It's adorable," she said as he handed the bear to her.
"I saw it in the gift shop and I had to buy it because, I know
she's going to look like you."
"You think we're having a girl?"
"I don't really know, I have a feeling, but I just know that I
want a girl."
"Really? I figured you would want boy to play ball with."
"Yes, really, and you of all people know that girls can play
ball too."
They sat in silence for a few moments. Thinking about the
baby and the changes it would bring, when a dark thought
crept into Scully's mind.
".... What if something happens to the baby? What if I
miscarry?"
Mulder moved to sit on the bed with Scully. He sat back against
the pillows pulling her to him, and she laid her head on his chest.
"Not gonna happen either. Why did they return me if that was
going to happen, huh? They said I was supposed to be
somewhere else, and they returned me right to the very room
that you were in at the time. That says something, don't you
think? "
"Maybe"
"I know it does. This kid is going to be healthy and happy. I
know it will."
"How can you be so sure? Miscarriages happen all the time."
"I had this dream about two weeks ago that I didn't tell you
about because I didn't want to upset you. It was amazing,
Scully. we lived in a little house in the burbs, and there you
were on there front porch holding the most perfect baby
girl I have ever seen. You were walking toward me with this
big smile on your face, and then you looked at the baby and
said, "look sweetheart your daddy's home." It was the most
realistic dream I've ever had, and that's how I know."
Scully lifted her head to look in Mulder's eyes and saw that he
truly meant what he said.
"I believe you."
"Did Dana Scully actually say she believes something I said,
or did I hear you wrong?"
"You heard right, Fox Mulder."
"Cool!"
"I love you."
"I love you, too, Scully."
THE END

Additional Notes: I hurried to get this done because I know
that we are about to get a fan-fic angst-o-thon because of
the fiasco that was TINH, and I wanted to make sure you get
some happy stuff to ease the pain a bit. I don't think this was
as good as the first one, but with what I have planned for the
next one I should make up for it. Thanks for your patience in
waiting for this one I appreciate it.
